FRA!TERNITY FESTIVAL 2026

FRA!ternity is the flagship annual festival curated and produced by Ghanaian Highlife funk band FRA!. Conceived as more than just a concert, FRA!ternity is a cultural movement dedicated to revamping band culture in Ghana while celebrating the richness, evolution, and future of original Ghanaian music.

Rooted in Highlife, funk and contemporary African sounds, FRA!ternity creates a meeting point between generations bridging classic Ghanaian music traditions with the sounds and audiences of today. The festival stands as a bold statement on the power of live bands, musicianship, collaboration, and community.

The Festival begins with a capacity building workshop for musicians and creatives at the British Council at 12pm on 16th January, 2026.

The main event will be held at Alliance Française d'Accra at 6pm on 17th January, 2026

Vision & Purpose

At its core, FRA!ternity exists to restore visibility, value, and relevance to band culture within Ghana’s modern music landscape. In an era increasingly driven by digital production, FRA!ternity champions the energy, discipline, and storytelling that only live musicians can deliver.

The festival also seeks to:

* Highlight and preserve original Ghanaian music across generations
* Encourage collaboration between established acts and emerging talents
* Provide a platform for live performance excellence
* Build sustainable creative networks within Ghana’s music ecosystem
* Inspire young musicians to pursue band-based artistry
The Festival Experience

FRA!ternity is a multi-layered experience that blends performance, education, and community engagement.

Live Performances

The main concert features FRA! alongside a carefully curated lineup of some of Ghana’s most respected and exciting artistes and bands. Guest acts are selected based on their musicianship, originality, and contribution to Ghanaian music culture, ensuring a night of high-quality live performances.

Audiences can expect powerful arrangements, extended live jams, reinterpretations of classic Ghanaian sounds, and collaborative moments that are unique to the FRA!ternity stage.

Capacity-Building Sessions

A defining element of FRA!ternity is its capacity-building sessions, which take place earlier in the day. These sessions are designed for musicians, creatives, and industry stakeholders and focus on:

* Band leadership and musical direction
* Live performance and stagecraft
* Music business fundamentals
* Collaboration and creative sustainability

By combining education with performance, FRA!ternity invests directly in the long-term growth of Ghana’s music industry.

 Cultural Impact

FRA!ternity is intentionally positioned as a cultural intervention. By centering live bands and original Ghanaian music, the festival challenges prevailing industry norms and reintroduces audiences to the depth and diversity of Ghana’s musical heritage.

Each edition strengthens the dialogue between past, present, and future — honouring legendary influences while creating space for new interpretations and voices.

Community & Collaboration

The festival thrives on collaboration. FRA!ternity brings together musicians, producers, cultural institutions, brands, and music lovers into a shared creative space. This spirit of fraternity — reflected in the festival’s name — is what sets FRA!ternity apart.

It is not just an event to attend, but to live.
